Listserv Guidelines

The AT&T Knowledge Network Explorer Collaboration Collage, also known as "ed1vidconf," is an electronic listserv for the discussion of the educational uses of videoconferencing. The use of filters, SPAM blockers, and even dual e-mail servers may cause problems and prevent you from recieving or sending messages. If you believe your messages are being blocked, you must contact your mail administrator. All messages are also posted to an archive of messages hosted by Yahoo!Groups and can be read by anyone.

Appropriate issues for discussion include, but are not limited to:

  • seeking subject-area experts or classroom collaborations
  • posting questions
  • sharing successes or lessons learned.
  • training staff or others to better use videoconferencing
__________________________________________________________-Audience
The Collaboration Collage target audience is teachers, librarians, technical support, and others involved in the educational uses of videoconferencing. Anyone is welcome to join the discussion. There are presently over 2000 members worldwide and an average of about 10 - 15 messages weekly. Anyone can also read the messages on the Yahoo!Groups archive. Email addresses are protected.

-Posting Policy
The following policy governs all postings to the Collaboration Collage list. These policies are enforced by the listserv manager.

  1. All messages must relate, however slightly, to the general topic of videoconferencing. The list owner interprets this rather broadly, but messages that are clearly off-topic will not be tolerated.
  2. Commercial advertisements are not appropriate. However, a simple statement that offers a way to follow-up for more information on a service or product is tolerated if it relates to a previous message or discussion.
  3. Announcements of educational programs, training, conferences, workshops, new publications, and position openings appropriate to the topic of the list are encouraged.
  4. Personal attacks such as name calling and personal insults will not be tolerated.
  5. Once initial contacts have been made for collaborative associations, it is best to continue discussions involving logistics, etc. to personal email correspondence.
  6. The preferred format for list messages is plain text. Subscribers whose mail clients default to other formats such as HTML should configure them to send plain text when posting to the list; otherwise your message may be somewhat garbled or include symbols that you did not intend to include.
  7. In order to prevent files that are capable of carrying viruses, Trojan Horses, or any other malicious code from being sent to the list, no files or attachments are accepted or processed.

-Administration
The Collaboration Collage is hosted as part of the AT&T Knowledge Network Explorer. It is a loosely moderated list and only subscribers may post messages. Listserv mail can be interpreted at SPAM. If your facility or ISP has SPAM blocking software in place, you may not receive messages. Please contact your ISP for further information on how to allow Collaboration Collage messages thru or if worse comes to worse, you can read messages on the archive. If you have questions, contact the list moderator using the KNE Feedback Form.

-Archive
The Collaboration Collage began in 1997. Postings are archived from 1999 forward and are available at Yahoo!Groups ed1vidconf

Changes made to protect subscribers on the Yahoo archive site prohibit viewing the email addresses contained within posted messages. In order to view sender's email addresses (on the archive), you would need to join the Yahoo Groups. Joining the Yahoo site is not required in order to receive messages from the Collaboration Collage listserv and you can still view the archives without joining it, you just won't see any email addresses.

-Listserv Commands

  • Join: To subscribe (join the listserv), use the handy form located on the main Collaboration Collage page or send mail to listserv@a05vm.rvr.il.ameritech.com with no signature and only this in the message body:
