Santa Inés Santa Inés, founded in 1804, was the only Mission founded by Father Esteban Tápis. Although it deteriorated after Spain cut off Mission funding, the buildings were never completely abandoned. The church and interior decorations have been restored to look as close to the original as possible. The tower with three bells is a distinctive feature of the church. This painting is called a diptych because it includes two distinct paintings or panels. Each panel remains incomplete by itself, relying on the other to form a complete picture.
