Introduction

You are a family of three students living in Germany. At the moment you each do not receive pocket money from your parents. You would like this situation to change but how do you make this happen?

The Quest

Your Quest: Each student must assume the role of one of the three siblings. Give yourself a name (preferably German) and state your age. Your task is to convince your parents the importance in receiving pocket money so that each of you will receive an allowance.

The Process and Resources

In order to convince your parents you will need convincing evidence.
Each student must choose and answer ONE of the following questions. (Write your answers in GERMAN)

Question 1: Outline the reasons why it is important for young people today to receive pocket money. (Find at least 4 different reasons).

Question 2: How much and how often should you and each of your siblings receive pocket money. (Write answers next to your name and the names of your siblings). In your answers you may have to consider the age of your siblings and their gender.

Question 3: Write some guidelines your parents should consider before giving you pocket money. (Find at least 4 different guidelines).

Phase 2 - Looking Deeper from Different Perspectives

In order to convince your parents you will each have to state where you found your information (your source).
Each of you will need to read the information from both links which you can access above.

Phase 3 - Debating, Discussing, and Reaching Consensus

Now that each of you has the necessary information to convince your parents, you must now come together as a group and discuss your findings.

Phase 4 - Real World Feedback

As a group you are going to give an oral presentation of your findings and arguments in German. Instead of convincing your parents you will have to convince your classmates. Your classmates may ask you many questions so make sure you are all experts.
