Introduction

You are going on vacation! You are going to visit a new city for 10 days! But before you go, you need to do some planning for your trip. In this WebQuest, you'll read about the city you're going to visit and make plans. Some questions you'll need to answer are:
* What things would you like to do?
* What places would you visit?
* What would you buy?




The Quest

You are going to plan a 10 day trip to a new city. Create a travel poster demonstrating why your trip is the best!




The Process and Resources

In this WebQuest you will plan a 10 day trip to a new city. To plan this trip you will need to do some research! Follow the instructions below. Answer all of the questions. Then create a travel poster with all of the information on your trip.

All travel posters must include information on:
1. The places you will visit
2. The things you will do
3. The amount of money you will need
4. The time of year you will travel

Your class will hold a travel fair to decide which trip is the best. So remember: Your poster must show the class why your trip is the best!

Phase 1 - Background: Something for Everyone

First, click on 'Cyber Listening Lab' link below and listen to 2 friends discussing their trip. Answer the questions. This listening will give you ideas for planning your own trip.

The other links below will also help you plans your own trip. They will give you useful infomation on traveling to any country in the world!

Phase 2 - Looking Deeper from Different Perspectives

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. In pairs, explore one of the cities below: Jakarta, Delhi or Rome.

2. Use the general Websites aboave and the Websites linked to your city to answer your questions. Use the information you find to start planning your trip. Also, write down the Web addresses in case you want to check the Website again.

3. Now you and your partner will share your information with other students who researched the same city.

4. As a group, make a travel poster with all of the infomation for your city. Your travel poster must tell the class:
1. The places you will visit
2. The things you will do
3. The amount of money you will need
4. The time of year you will travel

And remember: Your poster must show the class why your trip is the best!

5. Now it's time to see other group's travel posters. In class, have a travel fair. Ask other group members about their travel plans. Decide which trip you think would be the best.

6. As a class, vote on the best trip.
