Introduction

Hey! Do you like to travel? Well, pack your bags, we are going on a trip. Through this webquest we will travel through each of the four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall. Here we will find out about the holidays during these seasons, when the seasons begin and what kinds of activities we can play or do outdoors.

While we are traveling we will send home postcards telling our families what season we are in, and what we are learning about. So let's start packing!

The Quest

You will read about each season and learn about when the seasons begin, what holidays we celebrate during each season, and you will tell about an outdoor activity that pertains to your season.

The Process and Resources

Each person in the class is responsible for sending a postcard for each season they visit. You will have to send your postcard to a family member telling them when your season begins and what holidays you will be celebrating. You will also have to decorate your postcard with pictures that belong in your season. You may use clipart from the computer, or you may use pictures you cut out of old magazines.

Phase 1 - Background: Something for Everyone

Use the information linked below to answer the questions about your season. Please remember to read carefully, and be sure to answer the questions correctly.

Phase 2 - Looking Deeper from Different Perspectives

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. In your assigned group of four, you will each have an assigned season to read and learn about.

2. Each person is to click on the links to learn about your season and answer the questions. (Miss Ligenza will provide a worksheet with the questions listed)

3. After you have looked at the websites, you will answer the questions on your worksheet.

Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer

Use the Internet information linked below to answer these questions specifically related to your season.
Your assigned season--
1. Your job is to learn about the season. You will read about your assigned season and learn about when it begins, what holidays are during your season, and you will explore the activities we can do outside during that season.

Phase 3 - Debating, Discussing, and Reaching Consensus

Now you have all learned about a different part of the seasons. With all your season facts, your group will now meet together to talk about each season. 'Together' you will learn about the seasons and help one another understand.

Phase 4 - Real World Feedback

You and your classmates have learned a lot about the seasons. Now you will begin to write your postcard home.

1. After you learn about your season, you will then meet as a group and share your information. **Remember everyone needs to share about their season so we can send postcards home!! Be fair!!

2. Next, you will write your postcard. Miss Ligenza will give you the construction paper and you will use your worksheet with your season notes to create your postcard home. Miss Ligenza has a sample postcard, please use this as a guide to help start your postcard.

**Please try and write on your own. *Spelling does not count--you can do it!!!

3. After you finish writing your letter, now you may glue your pictures to the front of the postcard. *Remember the pictures can be from the computer (Miss Ligenza will help you print out any pictures you need), or could be from old magazines. Be creative!!

**Please use your time wisely and do not go crazy with the glue!! :)

4. Last we will send our postcards home to our families to tell about our trip through the seasons.
