There are almost 12,000 new cases of Pediatric Cancer every year in the United States alone. It is the leading cause of death by disease among American chilren. The 5 year survival rate has increased to almost 80 percent and the 10 year survival rate is almost at 75 percent. Knowing the statistics and the signs of cancer, we can help stop it before it hurts more of our children.
Use the sites provided to become more educated on the facts of Childhood Cancer. First find the most common type of pediatric cancer in America, then find the amount of funding Cancer is given per year. Use the links listed on my site to discover the answers, and have fun!
You will be working together as a group exploring web sites that I has selected. You should start with the links I have listed. Each group is in a race against time, the first team to finish wins, and extra information can gain you points.
Phase 1 - Background Information
These sites are important because they will provide basic information about the topic as a whole. Everyone should explore these sites before starting your Task. You can also look at sites that I have not listed for additional information.

Phase 2 - Roles
Here are the instructions for all team members:

2. Print important facts for additional refernces
3. Remember to include the URL of the page you take information from so you can return to it and use it as a citation.
4. Remember what you've learned so you can come back and answer both questions listed.
Phase 3 - Reaching Consensus
You have all learned about different parts of Childhood Cancer. Now group members gather around a table with expertise gained by searching different sites. Share the information you have gained with one another, this will assure that you all learn more. Use information, pictures, movies, facts, opinions, etc. from the web sites you explored to give your fellow classmates a better understanding.
Now that you have explored several different sites and learned about Childhood Cancer, you are ready to pass the information on to your family and friends. Knowledge is the best weapon and you can help lead the fight!!
