- Entertainment Software Rating Board - The ESRB rating system helps parents and other consumers choose the games that are right for their families. ESRB ratings have two parts: rating symbols that suggest what age group the game is best for, and content descriptors that indicate elements in a game that may have triggered a particular rating and/or may be of interest or concern.

- Family PC Safety Page - This is certainly one of the most comprehensive sites on this important topic, Internet safety.

- Get Net Smart! - An Online Safety Quiz for Parents and Youth
- GetNetWise - A public service brought to families by many Internet industry corporations and organizations. Very Good!
- NetSmartz - An online workshop intended to empower parents and their children with the skills and knowledge to be safe on the Internet
- Parent's Guide to the Internet - This 1997 report will provide much of the basic wisdom necessary to understand the Internet at school and home and some issues associated with it's use - from the U.S. Department of Education.

- AOL Parent Control - Most Internet using parents and kids use AOL. Most of those same parents have no idea how to use the parental controls. Find out more about this important and useful feature at this site. It is well worth the visit.
- CyberPatrol - Lets you manage children's Internet access as well as limit or block them from programs on your PC, such as computer games or home finance packages. It helps protect against harmful content online, safeguards against inappropriate language in chat sessions as well as protect kids from divulging personal information. CyberPatrol parental control software is designed to work on standalone Microsoft® Windows® based PCs.
- CyberSitter - A PC Magazine review for an Internet filtering system that provides over 30 categories of filtering making it the most complete Internet filter available. Filters are updated automatically, and there are no subscription charges. A sophisticated 'content recognition' system recognizes and blocks new objectionable web sites even before we know about them. CYBERsitter allows parents to override blocked sites, add their own sites to block, specify allowable times to access the Internet, and maintains a detailed log of all Internet activity and violations. It will even send a daily report to parents by e-mail.

- Surf Control - A web and e-mail filtering system
- Symantec World: Norton - Security and virus protection
- Web Watcher - This web-based tool will provide security on a child's computer in a most unobtrusive way. The parent can access an account through the web to view activity from e-mail to web searching to IM. Content control can be created from this web-based login. There is a cost involved to purchase, but from parent reviews, this is well worth it.
