Introduction
Students will work in teams to research the fashion and historical events for one decade of the 20th Century. The completed project will consist of a Powerpoint Presentation. Please refer to the project handout for additional details. In addition to the database and website links on Fashion History provided below, use the Gale 'American Decades' REF 973.9, 'Twentieth Century Fashion' REF 746.9 and 'Fashion of a Decade' 1920-1990 REF 391.009 titles located in the library reference section. Remember to include information on how the culture and world events influenced the fashion of the decade and list all sources in a Works Cited slide at the end of the project.
Fashion eras - Information on fashions by eras includes materials on costumes, fads and events that influenced fashion.
Gale Resources Databases: Student Resource Ctr. Silver and Biography Resource Ct. - Chose the Student Resource Center Silver database and run advanced search using the term 'fashion' and the decade (1940s)for great information on the styles and designers of the period. For information on specific designers use the Biography Resource database and search by the designer's name.
Kingwood College Library: American Cultural History - Search by decade to locate information and graphics on fashions and fads, art & architecture, music, historic events and important people. Also provides a quick list of facts for each decade including interesting information to provide prospective to today’s times.
Works Cited Page and Footnote Format - A Works Cited slide is a required part of this Powerpoint project. This link will provide detailed information on how to cite resources as well as links to two easy to use online citation machines.
