The Internet Resources

Phonemic Awareness

Grammar fun - Play activities with hard and soft g and c sounds. Also has games using nouns, verbs, adjectives,adverbs & conjunctions.
Language Arts Activities - Play Match of Mystery using beginning and ending consonants, short and long vowels, diagraphs, dipthongs and vce patterns.
Letter Matching - Drag the letters to make new words.
Letter Rip - Students race against the clock to see how many words you can make.
Phonemic Games - Play Monkey Match, Theo's Puzzle and Best Tramploline. Students have to look closely at pictures to play.
Stories and games - Games that are excellent for the beginning of 2nd grade. Stories to listen to and games that build words.

Phonics

Bitesize Literacy - This is a cool British learning site. Play Wild West Phonics and help Molly play a tune by jumping on the keys in alphabetic order.
Clifford and Emily Stories - Listen to Clifford stories and then play concentration, make a word, letter match and sound match.
Crickweb literacy activities - Twelve fun activities from finding missing characters, to using word wheels to make words. Even has a labeling activity based on the Three Pigs and Cinderella
Critter Jumble - Move mixed up collection of letters to spell out the mystery animal.
Game Goo - Play games finding opposites and antonyms, complete words, and making sentences.
Grammar Gorillas - Read simple definations of speech parts. Help build sentences.
Language Arts and Reading - Help Rusty Rat help catch falling nouns, verbs, vowels and consonants.
Phonic activities and games - Play games with Rhyming Reggie and Naming Nina. Write your own shape poems.
Phonics play - Four games to play. Students move magnets to make words, Play look, cover and spell like the title. Play Dinosaur eggs choosing the word that the narrator says.

Vocabulary

Charlie and Lola embellished vocabulary - Cute story showing how words can be changed and embellished. Look for excellent word choice
Fill in the blanks vocabulary - Use creative words to make a silly story.
Reading - Mad Libs Junior - Have fun with parts of speech making a funny story.
Reading Rainbow Vocabulary Fun - Play a game reading book summaries and choose the right title for the book.
Spring Fling Crossword - Have fun working crossword puzzle using spring vocabulary words
Story Starters with good vocabulary - Students spin a wheel that helps get them started writing a story with good word choice.
Word of the week - day - Word of the week gives definitions, pronunciation and how it is used.

Fluency

Chinese Fables and Tall tales - Have fun doing the varied rhyming activities after reading the stories.
Dr Seuss games - Sam I am is a great game that lets you fill in the blank as the narrator reads along. One Fish, Two fish has a matching game. The Loraz sticker game has a pattern that gets harder and harder.
Make a Silly Sentence - Based on Who, How, Type, What and Where choices, students can make a silly sentence and read it with the narrator.
Micky Mouse Club and Donald and the Beanstalk - Read along with Donald and do the tasks along the way to help Donald get down the beanstalk.
Mister Rogers, Mia & Miguel, Arthur - Activities are varied with each artist. Curious George helps students decide tools for different professions and situations.
Starfall Reading - Stories with sound- read along for fluency work from levels kindergarten to second grade.
Super Hyper Spider Typer - Save Berry the Spider from the hungry lizards by typing words as quickly as they can.

Comprehension

Arthur and Berenstain Bears Fun - Do you know the difference between fact and opinion? Arthur will help you. There is also games involving matching, dot to dot and story time.
Charlottes Web activities - After shared reading try doing these activities to check for comprehension.
Interesting Kid Information - This site has a link to NASA kids club. Have fun reading about alot of stuff.
National Geographic for Kids - Creature Feature gives facts and photos about certain animals, as well as have sound video featuring the animals. Site also has games and activities.
Reading Room - Read seven books online with activities. There are more little yellow person books to check out.
Research Online Biographies - Choose one of 15 personalitities to choose from. Read and then take a quiz to see how much you understood.
Share what you're reading - Write book reviews about your favorite book. Have your review picked to go on the website!
Treasures Reading Series - This site has many opportunities for students to show how they can comprehend the stories.
