Ecosystem, Habitats, and Biomes

• Build a Prairie - We've been learning about the importance of ecosystems. Now it's time to put some of your knowledge to use. Click on this link and follow the directions carefully. Can you 'build a prairie'? Open a new word document; save it as 'Ecosystems of the World' in your Filamentality file 1) What two types of ecosystems is the North American prairie divided into?

• National Geographic Ecosystems - Explore the many wondorus ecosystems of the world. Click on featured links at the bottom of the National Geographic website and sample the sights and sounds of each ecosystem. 1) Click on the first photo link of a whale. Where is this ecoregion located. Type your answer in your word document. 2) Now continue exploring at least 2 other ecoregions and have fun!

• The Evergreen Project Adventures - So much to explore and so little time! There are so many wonderful sites to explore, and this link is great for just that! 1) Once on this site, you must explore 3 biomes (out of the six that appear). Type the name of each biome and a corresponding fact in a word document 2) After searching through the 3 biome sites of your choice, choose one freshwater ecosystem and one marine ecosystem to click and search. Type the name of your freshwater and marine ecosystem and one corresponding fact for each in your word document. Have fun!

• Living Things: Habitats and Ecosystems - Explore the following links on this web page: 1) organization of ecosystems -- What is the difference between a community and population? 2) biome's of the world -- explore three new biomes (that you have not explored on other sites); list these new biomes in your word document and write a corresponding fact for each.

• The Virtual Zoo - Habitats - 1) Carefully study the biome boundaries on the map of the world. What biomes are located in North America? 2) Look at the percentage breakdown for each biome. What biome has the highest percentage? What does this tell you about planet Earth? 3) Now choose your favorite biome to explore. Locate one new fact you have yet to discover in earlier explorations. Type this new fact in your word document; make sure you include the name of the biome.
