Introduction

The Order Hemiptera is a very diverse and interesting group of insects, or 'True Bugs.' There are approxiamtely 67,500 varieties of Hemitpera. Although Hemitpera are very numerous, they all share a few common charecterisitcs. These 'True Bugs' are known for their sucking mouths. Their mouths allow them to extract subsurface fluids from plants and animals. They are also known for their two pairs of wings. The part of the wings at the base of the first pair is much tougher and thicker then the rest of the first, and second. These insects are similar structurally, but phenotypically, they rarely look like the same species. For more, in depth information about this fascinating group of insects, just look below.
