Introduction | Prometheus | Gaea | ANTHEM Book Covers | Ayn Rand | Art Relating to ANTHEM

Introduction
This assignment has five categories. From EACH of the first two (Prometheus and Gaea), choose three which you feel best respresent a graphic portrayal of Equality and Liberty from ANTHEM. From the next two (book covers and portraits of Rand), choose two from each category. For the last category, consider this: Rand said, “Art is inextricably tied to man’s survival” and “Of all human products, art is perhaps the most important” (to this last statement she added “..and the least understood”). From this category, choose two that you like. Print all twelve images, explaining, for each, how it best represents the characters (for the first two categories), why it best represents your concept of the content of the book and Rand herself (for the next two) and how it connects to ANTHEM'S plot or philosophy, for the last category. Also for the last category, include a statement about whether Rand herself (in your opinion) would or would not like the piece, and refer to details in the art itself. Put your explanations in the white space surrounding the images, after you print them out. Staple into a packet with the categories in order. Also print out these instructions and the titles of the ones you chose to do as a sort of cover sheet for the entire packet.

This assignment is due by 3:00 on January 26, 2009.
