Craft in America - Go to the 'Materials' heading and then read about each of the materials. The go to the 'Artists' heading and click on the link 'Meet the artists.' You can explore each medium, or look up individual artists.

A Digital Archive of American Architecture - Photos of different historical styles are presented, dating back to 1620.
Andy Goldsworthy Sculpture at Goodwood - Portfolio of outdoor installations by British sculptor who uses only natural objects in his constructions.
Antonio Gaudi, Great Architect of Barcelona - The last classical architect, the first modern architect! View five Gaudi buildings; short biography in Spanish; links to web sites in English.
Arcosanti Web Site - Take a virtual tour of this archology. Read the sections 'Archology Theory' and 'Arcosanti.' For extra credit, click on 'Community Council' and read the sections under it, including 'Voting' and 'Becoming a Community Member.' Write a reflection about what you think would be some of the benefits or drawbacks of being part of this community.
Art Images for College Teaching - Great for researching architecture of different historical periods.
Artists of the Capitol - Click on 'Capitol Complex' and then 'Works of Art' to complete your scavenger hunt of the art and architecture of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.
Cal Earth Architecture in Hesperia, California - In Hesperia, California, just an hour or two North of Vista is a wonderful architectural 'hands on' museum using earth as a major building component. How much would it cost to build an earth home compared to using 'traditional' materials? What type of environment is most suitable to this inexpensive material? How would your labor costs also be less using this building technique?

Hubbell and Hubbell Website - James Hubbell and Drew Hubbell work together in the San Diego area creating personalized architecture with natural shapes and materials. Click on 'Projects' and 'Current' to see some examples of their work. Click on 'Ilan Lael Foundation' and 'Community Projects' to see the school in Colonia Esperanza, Tijuana.
Queen Califa Magical Circle - Sculpture Garden - The only American sculpture garden and the last major international projects by Niki de Saint Phalle. It features totem poles and giant sculptures covered with mosaics. Natural and man-made materials such as travertine, tiger-eye, malachite, marbles and ceramic tile cover the totems and snakes. Located in Kit Carson Park, Escondido, California; open from dawn to dusk.
Romanesque Art and Architecture of Burgos - Burgos was a Roman city and during the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries many romanesque churches and monasteries were built there. From the menu, choose 'Página principal del románico castellano' and then click on one of the cities on the left to view the Romanesque buildings. Then go back to the main page and on the left hand column, click on 'Los grandes monumentos románicos.' Do a quick pencil sketch of the three photos on this page. How would you describe these elements of Romanesque architecture?
San Diego Museum of Art - Search for the following artists to complete your Sculpture worksheet: Deborah Butterfield, David Smith, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, Joan Miró, and Henry Moore. Visit 'Current Exhibits' and write the name of the one you would like to see.
Sculpture Images - The Cass Sculpture Foundation offers an archive of sculpture photos from the Goodwood Sculpture Estate. Artists include Andy Goldsworthy, Kier Smith, Steven Gregory, and other sculptors whose works have been exhibited at the estate.
St. Vincent de Cardona - Nave of the romanesque church located in Castle Cardona, Catalunya, Spain. The height of the ceiling is one of the fantastic features of this building.
The Getty Center Art Education Network - Search for lessons about architecture or sculpture. Make a poster reviewing one of the lessons and have your group's reporter explain it to the class.
The Museum of Miniatures - The Carole and Barry Kaye Museum of Miniatures in Los Angeles shows fabulous replicas of famous buildings and interiors. Take the museum tour of Palaces & Mansions, then Room Boxes and Dioramas. Choose one of the Special Attractions that interests you. Write a description of as many things as you could see in one of the exhibit pages. Make a sketch of one thing that you liked -- an object, detail, or pattern.

Photography - Dorothea Lange Photos - You will be responding to six photos by Dorothea Lange, and creating your own images for metaphors and similes.
The Welburn Gourd Farm in Fallbrook, California - View gourd folk art from all over the world. Click on photos of this year's gourd festival and last year's gourd festival. You will some some gourds that have sold for $1,500 to $10,000 because of the intricate inlay and painting that have been applied to them.
