Introduction

I created this page to try to inform people about an endangered specie, the American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus). The numbers of this species has long been in decline, and it is our duty to try and save these creatures. We do not wish to see any creatures become extinct for many reasons, including the possibility of vital sources of information or research Also, once gone, a specie can never be returned, meaning that we would never be able to see another black bear should we ignore the problem and allow a specie to become extinct.

But bears are particularly important, especially to all people living in the US Not only are the bears a part of our nation’s heritage, but they have long been the inspiration for one of our most popular toys and comforts, the Teddy Bear. The Teddy Bear was originally given its name after Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear that had been tied to a tree. A reporter on the scene penned it Teddy's Bear.

If we are not more aware of the problem and we fail to make an effort to save these creatures, there may not be any black bears left for future generations to see.
