Introduction

Surf's up! Grab your brain and head for the further reaches of cyberspace. There's a lot to learn in this information age. Using the Web allows you to discover tons more than you may have ever known possible. Before you begin, you need to know how to surf safe. Check the Internet links on this page to find answers to the questions about staying safe on the Internet. Don't forget to go after the monster learning wave, the Big Question. Have fun and avoid a mental head plant.





Questions

  1. What rules should you practice everytime you're on the Internet? Review the rules on 'Safe Surfin'.' What can you do to remember these rules?

  2. Print out a Surfftificate for the classroom to pledge your agreement for being a safe surfer.

  3. Do you have to act differently when on line? What do you need to be a good Net Citizen? Find out on 'Netiquette for Kids.'

  4. How can you quickly evaluate a web site so that you know whether it will help you with your class assignment? The information on 'What Makes a Web Site Good' will help you decide.

  5. Review 'The White House' web site and then use the 'Website Evaluation Tool' to evaluate the usefulness of this web site.

  6. You're almost done! Visit a few good sites with reliable information: Fact Monster, Ask Jeeves for Kids, and Kids Click. How can these sites help you with your school work?
