Introduction

We are heading into the magical world of global literature! From mythology to the awesome sounds of Old English, you will explore the world through text. Leave questions for me to answer. If you find something that may be helpful to the class, state it in your answer. Look for the connections between Shakespeare and the Greeks, do you see it? Most of all pay attention to the language used by the various auhtors for further discussion in class!





Questions

  1. Go into the links in 'explorations' and choose three you found helpful in understanding the text and tell me why.

  2. Choose three male and three female gods of greek mythology. Explain their powers and their signficance.

  3. Choose three figures on the table given in the website and state one significance each had in a literary text.

  4. Please read over guide for Oedipus Rex and give three themes found in the text. (Example:a political theme)

  5. In the Knight's Tale, choose and give five definitions of words defined by the glossary.

  6. Choose a question from under the heading 'essential questions' on the website. Please give a brief statement why this question is important to the text. Use quotes for emphasis.
