This Fall, SBC Education Advocates are busy as usual giving presentations and workshops for teachers, librarians, and administrators. Top requests are about E-rate, Grants, Cyber Crime and Network Security, and the ever-popular SBC Blue Web'n and Filamentality. Check out our California map to locate your Education Advocate.

Education Advocate Deena Aerenson is immersed in the world of grants. She's been searching for grants and alerting customers. She's also delivering her workshop -- both in person and via videoconference -- "Panic First and then what...a team approach to grant writing." The goal of the workshop is to provide participants with an effective and efficient process for managing a grant from start to finish! Contact her at Deena.Aerenson@sbc.com

Library Advocate Jackie Siminitus is developing a workshop on distance education best practices for employee training and communications. She is also collecting best practices for an upcoming distance education leadership conference, ADEC Summit (ADEC is the Alliance for Distance Education in California) to be held in San Jose, March 2-5, 2005. The theme is "connecting distance education leaders to solutions." Contact her at Jacquelyn.Siminitus@sbc.com

Education Advocate Linda Uhrenholt has been busy behind the scenes with the Keystone Conference. She has also created a popular presentation for K-12 District Technology Committees: "Stuck in the Mud or Moving Forward: K-12 Technology Trends." Contact her at Linda.Uhrenholt@sbc.com

Education Advocate and California Team Lead, Beth Bustamante, will present in person and over videoconferencing at the Oct. 26th e-rate seminar at El Monte Union High School District. In addition to regular workshops, she recently facilitated an emergency summit to discuss what governments agencies, including schools, are doing to safeguard their networks and facilities. If your school is interested in hearing more on this topic, feel free to contact her for materials from the summit at Beth@sbc.com
